Frequently Asked Questions
You will need to visit your GP first to discuss what your symptoms are, and whether you need to see a consultant orthopaedic opinion. Your GP will write a letter of referral to Mr Crawfurd and you can then book an appointment directly through the Bookings Team at the BMI Three Shires Hospital on 01604 885003. It’s as simple as that! Physios or your health insurance company may also refer you directly to Edward Crawfurd.
If this is the case, you will need to self-fund your treatment with Mr Crawfurd. Please be aware that all X-rays, injections, scans and other treatments are not included in the initial consultation fee.
If you need an operation at the BMI Three Shires Hospital, they can offer you a package price for your stay. This will include the surgeon’s fee, anaesthetic and hospital stay. However, this does not include the initial consultation you will have with Mr. Crawfurd or any of your follow-up consultations after your initial post-operation visit from Mr Crawfurd.
Mr Crawfurd is registered with all the major health insurance companies. Some of those companies are happy for you to see Mr Crawfurd without a referral from your GP, however, Mr Crawfurd prefers a referral letter as this provides him with a more extensive medical history of his patients.
You will need to have policy details, such as your policy number and an authorisation number, before you come for your consultation. Please note that the unusual spelling of Crawfurd proves problematic with insurance companies, so please make sure you give them the correct spelling. If you have any queries or difficulties regarding this, please telephone Mr Crawfurd’s secretary, Mrs Suzanne Linnell, who will be happy to help.
